Equality and Interculturalism

The Equality Working Group is responsible for implementing the Partnership's Equality Policy. It develops the Partnership's capacity and direction in terms of equality by providing information, training and support to Board, staff and Working Groups. It promotes good practice on equality amongst local community organisations by devising and implementing training programmes, developing good practice guidelines on equality and providing financial support for organisations working with target groups of the Partnership. It also promotes an equality agenda amongst statutory organisations and employers. The Working Group is linked with developments at national level, such as the Equality Authority, and is developing transnational opportunities and links through European Programmes.

Services to Date
  • Providing information sessions/workshops for Board/Project staff on equality legislation, equality proofing, refugees and asylum seekers, etc.
  • Equality training for management committees of community organisations
  • Antiracism training for Partnership/community organisations & developing a model for Clondalkin
  • Baseline study on circumstances and needs of target groups contained in the Partnership's Equality Policy
  • Intercultural Centre (more information below)

The Intercultural Centre in Clondalkin Village

The Intercultural Centre is a POBAL funded initiative of CPLN Area Partnership. The Intercultural Centre is a social place for an intercultural dialogue which acknowledges and celebrates diversity but also promotes common values. We are committed to be a guide and source of support to the immigrant population in their efforts to integrate into Irish society.

Opening hours: Mon - Fri 9-4pm. Closed for Lunch 1-2 pm.

  • Intercultural Men's Social Club
  • Art exhibitions of local artists from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, intercultural music events.
Education
  • English Language group classes with professional teachers, Russian, Spanish and Italian classes with native speaking volunteers, leaflets translation, one to one English classes with volunteers.
Working with schools
  • ESOL classes for second level students. After school integration clubs: Ballet classes, arts/crafts, Puppetry and Drama workshops. Intercultural Summer Camp. Youth Intercultural Film Club.
Training and Promotion of anti-racism and interculturalism
  • Intercultural training and diversity in the work place.
Community Space
  • FREE meeting space for ethnic and community groups where people from immigrant and Irish communities can interact in order to build mutual understanding.
  • Garda Assistance Clinic, Free Legal consultations, general information to visitors and access to PCs, a copier and phones.
  • Resources for greater public awareness about diversity in Ireland to the local service providers.
