Education & Early Years Working Group

The Education and Early Years working Groups of CPLN Area Partnership organised

An information session on Supporting Parents to help their children reach their full potential

A fair of the agencies and schools in the area was provided. This was to help parents link in and learn about what is in their area that would support their children's educational development.

Agencies and schools included; The VEC, Collinstown Park Community College St. Kevin's community College and Deansrath Community College , Clondalkin Youth Services, Sports Partnership, Dublin West Childcare and Learning Services, Quarryvale Family Resource Centre, Honey Bears, Clondalkin Library Services, Clondalkin Travellers Development Group, Community National Schools, NOISE (South Dublin County Council), Intercultural Centre, Jigsaw, CHEAP(Clondalkin Higher Education Access Program), NEYAI (National Early Years Access Initiative), Bawnogue Women's Development Group, Balgaddy Child and Family Centre, NALA (National Adult Literacy Agency) http://www.nala.ie/news/help-my-kid-learn, South Dublin County Childcare Committee.

A series of talks included:
• Helping your child learn for Early years (John Sharry)
• Helping your child and building confidence for Primary school children(John Sharry)
• Teenage and adolescent years(John Sharry)
• Clondalkin Drugs task force,
• NALA (Family literacy) and the library services
• Cyber bullying(National Parent's Association)
• Career advice (Career guidance teacher)

Seminars were well attended and feedback on the day was very positive.

CPLN area Partnership received many prizes from our sponsors for our competition which was promoted on the day. Sponsors included; The Ark (Temple Bar), the National Aquatic Centre (NAC), The Wax Museum, Viking Splash Tour, and The Civic Theatre (Tallaght).
