Understanding community Development Awards Presentation

CPLN Area Partnership organised a Certificate Presentation ceremony for migrant community leaders from across Clondalkin Palmerstown, Lucan and Newcastle areas that successfully participated, completed and archived FETAC Level 5 qualifications in Understanding Community development in Aras Chronain. The morning was also dedicated to honouring 3 Ethnic Liaison Officers of the Clondalkin Garda station for outstanding intercultural work in Clondalkin over the past eight years. Superintendent Brendan Connolly of the Clondalkin Garda station presented the certificates to the 15 course participants, congratulated them and stressed the need for communities and statutory services to work together to achieve integration in the Irish Society, he also pointed out that the Clondalkin Garda station will continue its work in strengthening relations with members of the New Communities in Clondalkin.


Garda Stephen Dunican, Garda Maeve McBride and Garda Berth Heuston were recognised for their outstanding intercultural work including organising clinics and information sessions for the New Communities in Clondalkin as well as football tournaments and involvement in intercultural activities to as a means of fostering good relations with the Clondalkin Garda station and the local migrant community especially asylum seekers. David Lynch of CPLN Area Partnership did the presentations to the honoured Guards and thanked the Clondalkin Garda station for its continued cooperation and collaboration in working with the New Communities. He wished Garda Stephen Dunican and Garda Berth Heuston well and encouraged them to continue their good work in their new stations of Blackrock and Ballymun respectively.


The community Development course and the ceremony was co-financed by the European Commission under the European Integration Fund and supported by the Office for the Promotion of Migrant Integration in the Department of Justice and Equality and Pobal and South Dublin County Council
